TITLE: HONORARY DEGREES AND AWARDS

HONORARY DEGREES

The following guidelines will be used to process nominations for the awarding of Linn-Benton Community College honorary degrees.

1. Any individual may nominate a person to receive a Linn-Benton Community College honorary degree.

2. The names of nominees with background information will be forwarded to the college President who will maintain a file of nominees.

3. During March of each year the Linn-Benton Community College Board chairperson will remind the Board Awards Subcommittee to consider nominees.

4. In general, honorary degrees will be awarded during the graduation exercises in June.

DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN GALLERY

Once a person is recommended to the President for the Distinguished Citizen Award and fulfills the selection criteria, the President will make recommendations to the Board; and written ballots will be sent to Board members for consideration. Deadline for recommendations will be March 1 of each year. A brief summary of achievements of the nominees will be included. When a nominee receives a two-thirds majority vote of the Board, he/she will be presented with the Distinguished Citizen Award at the spring college graduation ceremonies; and the person's picture and background information will be placed in the gallery.
