TITLE: REPORTING SUSPECTED CHILD ABUSE


          In the interest of the health and safety of children, the college has a policy that requires employees who have reasonable cause to believe that any unmarried child under the age of 18 with whom they come in contact has been abused must report it to Department of Human Services or a law enforcement agency.


          An oral report shall be made immediately by telephone or otherwise to the local enforcement agency within the county where the person making the report is at the time of the contact. The report shall include (if known) addresses of the child and the parents of the child or other persons responsible for care of the child, the child's age, nature and extent of the abuse (including any evidence of previous abuse), the explanation which the person making the report believes might be helpful in establishing the cause of the abuse and the identity of the perpetrator.
