TITLE: TRANSFER OF CREDITS

Transferring LBCC Credits

Lower division credits may be transferred to most colleges throughout the United States. Lower division students may transfer up to 108 credit hours to schools in the Oregon State System of Higher Education. Even though D grades are passing, many schools will not accept credits for which a D has been earned. This is especially true if the course is in the student's major field. P credits may be limited or recalculated for GPA purposes upon transfer.

Students planning to transfer credits to another institution are encouraged to work with an LBCC advisor in planning a transfer program. It also is recommended that students contact the college or university to which they will transfer to acquire acceptance in planning appropriate classes for their program.

Transferring Credits to LBCC

Linn-Benton Community College accepts college-level credits earned in academic certificate and degree programs from colleges and universities that are accredited by regional accrediting associations and have an "AG" symbol for credit acceptance as indicated in Transfer Credit Practices of Designated Educational Institutions published by American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

International students transferring from foreign colleges or universities may, upon request, have their transcripts evaluated. The student must have the transcript translated into English by a college-approved certified translator. The college or university must be listed in the International Handbook of Universities and be generally accepted by Oregon colleges and universities. Courses accepted for English composition must be taken at an accredited U.S. college or university or accredited English-speaking university. Only those courses that have an equivalent at Linn-Benton Community College will be accepted.

For matriculated students, transfer credits will be transcripted when received. The name of the institution and the number of credits will be listed. Transfer credits will not be posted for non-matriculated students.
