RELATED TO POLICY SERIES NO: 7050
TITLE: STUDENT CONDUCT ON FIELD TRIPS AND IN OTHER OFFICIAL OFF-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES
1. LBCC Policy. Students are required to conform to the LBCC policy relating to standards of student conduct (see "Students' Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct"). These rules apply to officially enrolled students, regardless of whether they are participating in a traditional classroom activity or a non-traditional off-campus activity.
2. College Vehicles. Students who are in transit or are being transported in a vehicle provided by the college are required to conduct themselves in accordance with LBCC policy.
3. Class Time. During the official class meeting time, as designated by the class schedule or course outline (when the class is officially meeting), college policy and procedure relating to student behavior shall apply.
4. Official Location - Site or Campsite. On field trips, college excursions, or other official off-campus programs, the college may designate an official campsite, demonstration site, or convention area. The area shall be defined as the official campus site for college activities. College policy and procedure shall apply in the designated area, regardless of the time of day.
5. General Behavior. Students who are participating in a field trip or other college sponsored excursion are expected to conduct themselves in a proper manner in accordance with college policy. Any behavior or activity which could distract from the purpose of the field trip or excursion shall be considered a serious infraction of college policy. The student committing such infraction shall be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the "Students' Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct" document.
6. Instructor - Advisor Role. The Instructor or Advisor shall be responsible for the proper application of college policies, rules, and regulations. The Instructor or Advisor therefore shall have the authority to fully implement college policy and procedures related to field trips and excursions. It is a prime responsibility of the Instructor or Advisor to notify students in a timely fashion of the policies, rules, and regulations relating to excursions.
