BOARD POLICY SERIES NUMBER: 7100
TITLE: WAIVER AND REDUCTION OF TUITION FOR PUBLIC SERVICES AND CONFERENCE AND SEMINAR COURSE OFFERINGS
It shall be the policy of the Linn-Benton Community College Board of Education to allow the college President the authority to reduce or waive tuition on low-cost courses specifically designed to provide a service to the public. Special consideration should be given those courses that are short-term, that encourage family unit participation, or are part of the Linn-Benton Community College high school articulation projects. Included in short-term course offerings would be seminars, conferences, and symposiums. Consideration also should be given for training that is provided through special contracts or agreements with other agencies, including business and industry. Reduction or waiver of tuition also may be considered for those courses where the greater share of volunteer help by an agency or an individual results in little or no cost to the college for instructor salary, rental, and supplies and materials. The college administration, in determining the waiver or reduction in tuition, should consider as one factor that such courses should pay their own way. When determining the cost, income from student enrollment (FTE) should in included.
The Board of Education shall be informed annually of any exceptions made in tuition charges that are not outlined above. All other reimbursable Linn-Benton Community College course offerings should be at the Board's approved rate.
