Russell Tripp Performance Center

The Russell Tripp Performance Center, formally known as Takena Theater, was renovated due to a generous gift from long-time college supporters and Albany residents Russell and Duffy Tripp. The Tripp's specified that their gift to the LBCC Foundation go to the renovation of the theater, stating that they believe "a theater is the heart of the campus."

The renovation began in March of 2004. The donation was used to paint the auditorium, refurbish the seats, install new carpet, replacethe front curtain and masking curtains, and upgrade the rigging system.

In addition, state-of-the-art computerized light and sound systems were installed, including140 new lights, powerful follow-spot lights, new microphones and speakers and a backstage intercom system.

The renovation was finished in October of 2004, providing a functional performance venue for the communities that LBCC serves. The theater has not had such a major overhaul since its construction in 1978.
