Printing Services Move

Printing Services has moved to their new location in the Luckiamute Center, formally known as the Workforce Education Building (WEB).  This is a permanent location for the Printing Services Department (this will be their 5th location), with improved accessibility to loading docks for large quantity paper deliveries. Budget for the project has not been determined at this time

The floor space is similar in size to the old area, with approximately 3700 square feet of space. The ambient heat will be a constant 70 degrees throughout the area, which is ideal for paper storage.

Ladder-type holders were placed across the ceilings to hold wiring for the equipment off the floor for safety. Work areas are well defined, and the new office area allows ample space for customers placing or picking up orders.

PROJECT: Printing Services Move/Site Renovation

Reviewed/Approved: On Hold

PROJECT PARAMETERS
(Completed by Capital Planning Task Force)

PROJECT NARRATIVE: A general description of the project; to include a narrative summary of the overall purpose of the project and why it is beneficial to LBCC.

The focus of this project, which is contingent upon the Maintenance & Grounds Compound Project being completed, is to move the college's Printing Services Department to another location following the renovation of the site. Benefits of this project to the college will include the availability of additional technical-professional instructional space, a permanent location for the Printing Services Department (this will be their 5th location), and, improved accessibility to loading docks for large quantity paper deliveries.

STAFFING PARAMETERS: Will additional staff be required when the project is completed (do not include custodial or maintenance personnel as a consideration)?

No additional staffing will be required for this project as this will be a facility renovation and move, not an expansion of services.

DESIGN PARAMETERS: Location, budget allocation, Principles of Universal Design, proximity considerations, art considerations, access considerations, appearance and scale considerations.

The proposed location of the new site for the Printing Services Department consists of the current maintenance shop areas plus a small storage area currently occupied by the Industrial Division. This space is located directly behind the Facilities Department, and borders on the college's shipping and receiving loading docks. Renovation costs, yet to be determined, would consist of the following work: electrical, phone data, HVAC modifications, insulation, lighting, floor leveling/cement, wall removal and construction, painting, and would include the establishment of a small public office for customer traffic. The newly established service area will be ADA accessible to customers, safe in its layout of equipment for employees, insulated/temperature controlled in terms of materials and supplies storage, approximately the same square footage requirement as the current site, approximately the same walking distance for "walk-in" customers, improved access for large quantity paper deliveries, as well as consistent in appearance with the college's architecture in this are of the main campus. The estimated budget for this project is $ 95,900.

PROCESS PARAMETERS: Processes that must be observed by Project Team as it prepares Program Specifications.

Processes which the Project Team will need to consider include predicted customer traffic to/within the new site, particular attention to the spatial layout of equipment and materials and supplies (proposed site consists of two, separate buildings vs. the current single space), proximity of paper storage to loading docks, and potential for accessing one building from the other without exposure to weather elements.

OTHER PARAMETERS: Miscellaneous institutional concerns that must guide the project (e.g., Food Service outlets will not be a part of this facility).
