  • Flashlight Evaluation Handbook, a 70-page booklet which outlines a process and includes an overview of these resources which are a part of the program:
    • collection of evaluation tools
      • Current Student Inventory contains items to assess teaching, learning, and technology; student satisfaction, learning outcomes (using 14 widely accepted outcomes, such as using time productively or rich and rapid feedback), student experiences, and demographics
      • Faculty Inventory to help us encourage"best practices"
      • Cost Analysis Manual to assess what technology brings to LBCC in terms of cost/benefit analysis (net costs)
      • ³Completer Inventory"to gather information from people who have completed a course of study and a"Supervisor Inventory"to gather information from their supervisors
      • Distance Education Site Staff Inventory
      • Authoring and Remote Data Analysis Systems (using web and CD-rom so Flashlight can assist in analyzing data for LBCC)
    • case studies that support development of more effective evaluation tools
    • access to tested, valid survey items for student surveys
    • protocols for interviews, focus groups, and resources for consulting.
  • LBCC could use this resource to:
    • Help us select technology to improve courses, programs and instruction
    • Help department/college clarify our direction on using technology
    • Develop surveys using nationally validated questions for staff and student input on technology-related issues
    • Develop consistent evaluation of our distributed programs, using comparative data from other schools
    • Support accreditation. Help us answer such questions as: Has student retention improved? Has technology helped or hindered our basic goal of improving teaching and learning? Has student"time on task"increased?
