Campus Resources

After the events of 9/11, a college-wide Response Team was established to ensure safety and coordinate efforts in response to needs across our campus. The team's focus is on safety and security, emotional support, and increasing knowledge and understanding.

Response Team members included:

American Psychological Association (APA)
The APA provides resources on coping with crisis. A brochure, "Managing Traumatic Stress: Tips for Recovering from Disasters and Other Traumatic Events," is available on the APA web site (http://www.helping.apa.org). The APA also can provide referrals to psychologists in your area by calling 1-800-964-2000.

Specially designated phones ring directly to campus security. Phones are located outside the Activities Center and Family Resource Center buildings and inside the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business, College Center, Health Occupations, Industrial A and Science and Technology buildings.


Campus Policies

Our Student Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct Policy provides freedom of inquiry and expression to all. This means students and student organizations are free to examine and discuss all questions of interest to them and to express opinions publicly and privately. Of course, if the discussion is not content relevant to the course, then substantive discussion may be regarded as disruptive to the learning process. However, in any event, students are not allowed to be disruptive in sharing their opinions.

The following resources provide guidelines in case you should encounter situations of harassment, discrimination or violations of the "Student Conduct Code."

College Policy 6090 prohibits discriminatory conduct (including an individual's race, religion and national origin). Per college policy and Administrative Rule E029, those who believe they have been subject to unlawful discrimination should bring their complaint forward as follows:

College Policy 6255 also prohibits harassing and/or offensive behaviors. Per college policy and Administrative Rule E028, those who believe they are being subjected to harassing behavior should bring their complaint forward as follows:

Tuition Refund Policy for Students called for Active Duty:
Students who are called-up for military service are eligible for tuition refunds after the drop with refund date. Students must submit an Extended Refund Petition with a copy of the order to report for active duty. The date of the order must be after the drop with refund date. Petitions are available in Admissions and Registration.

Other Resources:

  • Multicultural Center - provides resources and information on cultural issues, discussion groups, a safe place for students to gather, discuss and study. Contact the Multicultural Center, ext 4461.

  • Library - provides support staff for students/staff researching cultural issues including bibliographies. The Library staff will purchase library materials to support instructional needs. Contact the Library, ext 4638.
